The Crabbers

One of my first and favorite paintings I did early on in my career. I wanted to depict the brief moments between the action and labor these men are engaging in to make a living. Here, a waterman grabs a quick stretch as his partner manages a quick gaze on the horizon while pulling his glove on. The details make this painting and I think it manages to depict the back breaking aspect of the labor without actually showing the action itself.
